A walk towards Praa Sands will have you following a trail along the dramatic cliffs with evidence of the Cornwall’s rich mining history such as Rinsey along the way. Praa Sands boasts a long sandy beach ideal for surfing and some great places where you can enjoy food and drink.
In the opposite direction you find the Loe, the largest freshwater lake in Cornwall. It is separated from the sea by a narrow beach. From here you can walk inland and enjoy the beauty of the Penrose Valley.
Porthleven is served by regular bus services and is an ideal centre to explore west Cornwall and the Lizard or you can sit at the harbour mouth and watch fishing boats enter the safety of the harbour whilst surfers ride the waves alongside.
Porthleven is a place where you can relax and soak up traditional Cornwall. By foot car or public transport, there is always something to capture your interest nearby. Whether its imposing cliffs or a visit to Helston the home of the floral dance, you will not be bored.
